"Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for every dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn't carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life."~~~Stephen King

Sauntering through life

There are people who feverishly rush through life. I'm not one of them. How much better it is to be able to saunter along this life journey. I know of people who judge their day as to how much they have been able to accomplish. I rarely feel the need to hurry in any situation. I'm always early for appointments, so consequently I rarely shop before I have an appointment for I don't want to feel that I have to rush. I want to allow time to enjoy my shopping. Besides, I never know whom I will meet! How much nicer to take time to get to know the people along the way. I worked for quite a few years and was always on a schedule with many deadlines. This was not my personality and it was difficult for me. If only I had known when I was younger, I would have chosen a field more suitable to my personality! I did very well in clerical-type classes, so I chose to be a secretary. I quite possibly would have been more content in the field of forestry. My free-spirited thinking about life is to take time to stop and see the beauty of the sunset and let it fill the soul, to listen to the rustle of the leaves in the trees, and listen to the songs of the birds, and to gather the fragrant flowers along the way.
