"Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for every dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn't carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life."~~~Stephen King

Finding solace

I gave a good friend a book for Christmas. As I was talking to her on the phone yesterday, she was telling me that she started reading it a couple nights ago. She went on to say that she couldn't put the book down until she finished it because it was so good. This conversation made me recall how I used to "read" some of my books. I used to flip to the back of a book and read the ending before I started reading it. Especially in school when I had to do a book report and didn't want to read the entire book. I just wanted to know what  happened. Sometimes I just wanted to know how it turned out so I could put my feet up and see how the story developed. If that is true for reading a book, imagine how much more true it is in real life.

When you’re in a bad situation and see no possible way out, you can find solace in the fact that it will all work out in the end if you place your faith firmly in Jesus Christ. When the reality of life begins to surround us and depress us to the point of thinking there is no answer to our problems, it is comforting to "peek at the end of the book" to know the end.....Jesus. He was there in the beginning, He was there in the middle, and He will be there in the end.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."~~~Hebrews 13:8 NIV
