We are a day closer to glorious springtime and the sun is brightly shining. It is fairly breezy and the wind chill is 8 degrees, but it’s still wonderful to see the sun and blue skies.
Our cats Holly and Oliver don’t need to watch Cat TV this morning; they can watch it through our French doors in real time! Both cats are on high alert and chattering away while watching the birds fluttering and hopping all over the back yard. Birds galore are feasting on the suet; the seed heads of the zinnias, purple coneflowers and black-eyed Susans; and sipping from our heated bird bath. This morning my husband Brian and I have observed: eastern bluebirds, cardinals, chickadees, nuthatches, blue jays, sparrows, red-bellied woodpeckers, downy woodpeckers, dark-eyed juncos—and I’d say an entire flock—or two—of starlings!
