HOLLY’S CAT LETTER, EPISODE 5

 HOLLY’S CAT LETTER

EPISODE 5–02/26/2024

🐱 Hi to all my admirers on the internet. It’s a beautiful sunny day with a high of 71° expected. I have no clue what an outside temperature of 71° feels like. To me it would not feel any different than 10° since I’m safe and pampered, and always toasty warm. Come to think of it, I don’t know what it’s like to be outside!

🐱 Even though I have my brother Oliver from a different Mother and Father to contend with, I feel safe in my home. Ma’s lap is always a comfort when I feel some anxiety coming on. My absolute biggest fear is of the veterinarian. That long metal thingy dangling around his neck is concerning. He stuffs the ends of it inside his ears and then presses this cold thing from the other end along my sides. I also have a fear of needles as I’ve had to endure a lot of them. I’m so vain and sometimes the vet has to shave off some of my pretty fur. That really messes with the high opinion I have of myself. When he shaves my neck Ma calls me “Skinny Neck”. I’m especially frightened of that thermometer and Q-tip thingy that he shoves up my….😳 Ma has to look away when the vet does anything that she thinks looks remotely uncomfortable. It’s a joy when the vet puts me back in my carrier because I know I get to go home. The best part is being comforted on Ma’s warm lap, her kisses and hearing soft murmurings.

🐱 Back to continuing with things that can be scary—through the years I’ve inadvertently picked up Ma’s ADHD. Besides my daily duty of scouting out the interior of my territory, I also scout the outside. Even during the nighttime hours since those nocturnal beasts are out there. I have various look out posts for all the windows so I make sure everything is safe and secure. I witness all kinds of critters lurking—big and small. Some of the vermin have the gall to come right up close to my window! I attempt to make myself appear menacing and make my tail all big and fluffy. But it never works. They all know cats’ tails get all big and fluffy when they’re terrified.

🐱 I hope you all have a cozy evening filled with yummy snacks. More about me later…love, Holly

You should write a book from the perspective of kitty...which I guess is what you're essentially doing with your cat letters. Marcia Mehlman

You & ma have a blessed 71° day, sweet Holly. You know sweetheart, when I was a kid I watched Underdog. His girl was Sweet Polly. 😊 Deanna Hinds
