What a beautiful sunny day for the first day of autumn. My friend Diane had called me a couple days ago and invited me to have lunch with her and her friend Pat. Pat (my new friend now) and her husband are heading back to their home in Florida in a couple of days. A month or so ago the three of us had agreed to have lunch before she went home. We had a fun time, laughing, being silly, and sharing stories! We enjoyed lunch at Panera's. All three of us had a healthy Harvest Salad which had various greens, d'anjou pears, dried cherries, roasted turkey, pecans, cheese and a cherry vinaigrette. I had my taste buds all ready for their mixed greens, strawberry/mandarin orange, roasted chicken, pecan, cheese, dried cranberry salad with poppyseed vinaigrette....turned out it's just a seasonal salad (frown).
What a perfect time with friends...except I hit my head twice on the lamp above our table. I knew I would too...I've done it before! I made the comment that I would right before I sat down to eat, and sure enough I did! We were very good and walked right on by the tempting pastries on the way out, though Diane was eyeing the iced brownies on the way in...I was eyeing everything in the case!
Pat is a very *generous person, and insisted on paying for our tabs. She even furthered her generosity by making Diane and me a deal. If we allowed her to stop by Wal-Mart on the way home, she'd treat us to a cherry sundae at Culver's...now who could turn that down?

Choices...Culvers made ordering this sundae very difficult for the three of us. Now we had to decide if we wanted whole cherries, or crushed cherries, lids or no lids. They were just being polite in giving us choices, but again the three of us just wanted a small cherry sundae! Simple! So the three of us agreed on crushed cherries and no lid. I mean who wants a lid on their sundae anyhow. It just squishes the ice cream...and who wants a sundae to go? The ice cream...er excuse me frozen custard in this case, would melt before you even got it home! So we got crushed cherries with no lids...no nuts, crushed or otherwise, no whipped cream...just the basic small cherry sundae!
At least they didn't ask us if we wanted fries with that!!
