I've been looking for the perfect turquoise/Lake Michigan blue to paint our guest bedroom. I always look way early because I know how my decorating mind works...very picky. I always bring home dozens of paint samples to find just the perfect color and hue, from many different stores. I tape them to the walls in that particular room and contemplate for weeks on end, checking them out in different exposures and wondering what accent colors would go with them. I was out walking in the yard earlier this afternoon just enjoying the sunshine and gentle breeze, planning my shade garden. Something small and blue caught my eye that was lying on the ground...I bent over to pick it up and it was half a robin's eggshell! I looked up and saw the nest and saw that it was still intact and smiled...I'd seen robin's eggs so many times before and always thought what a miracle birds are, and robins in particular are one of my favorite songbirds in the garden and at the birdbath. Then EPIPHANY!!! What could be a better blue, but a blue that God created for one of my favorite songbird's eggs? So I placed the little half eggshell upon my index finger so it wouldn't get broken, and laid down on the soft grass on my back under the shade tree....watching the white fluffy clouds float by, almost to the point of drifting to sleep....enjoying another of my childhood pleasures....and wondering what on earth my neighbors behind me was thinking!!! They've never met this crazy lady and they may think I've fallen down and check on me and see this blue eggshell on my finger and think...another hmmm moment!
