Black Friday

I used to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving before it was called Black Friday. It was simply called the "Biggest Shopping Day of the Year". I enjoyed getting out and watching the merry shoppers bustling about. This was before it turned into a bloody battle to get to the sale items before the last ones are sold. Then you have the joy of waiting in line so long that you personally know the person in front of you and the person behind you and their entire life story. If you're fortunate enough, you may even have the opportunity to hear about every medical problem that they and their family have had that is known to man. The past couple of years, much to my chagrin, Thanksgiving evening has been made part of this yearly event. I don't know about the rest of you reading this, but when I get through with my Thanksgiving dinner and all the festivities, I want to go to my warm home and relax.
Maybe even start a fire in the fireplace and watch a movie. While I'm sitting there relaxing at a relative or friend's home yawning, feeling full and satisfied from a delicious Thanksgiving meal and conversation, my mind is far from staying up until midnight and facing the crowds at every store until the wee hours of the morning, or even on into the day as some shoppers do! I'll take my chances with the merry shoppers in the daylight hours during the week! Maybe the natives won't be as restless during that time!

Kathy - you were smart to stay home! Amber and I did go out at midnight, even though we were both very tired! Stayed out til 6 a.m. Crazy! We decided next year to do to our "normal" (normal?) routine of sleeping and then going out at 4 a.m.!! But we did get to meet and talk to some people along the way. I do enjoy that part ... and of course, the great deals you get!!
