Ahhhhh the thrill of old classic movies.....the grace, the charm, the elegance.....dapper men in their suits, ties and hats.....beautiful women in their gowns, gloves and extravagant hats.....I like Fred Astaire: his acting, singing, and I immensely enjoy watching him dance. He definitely had his own style, sense of rhythm and had such precision. I enjoy watching him and Ginger Rogers dance together, especially to the beautiful song "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" which was written by Jerome Kern. I've noticed too that he had such large hands, and I find myself frequently being distracted by them when he's dancing. He was 5'9" tall, but he was rather on the slim side. Maybe that's why I notice his hands so much!
I could watch Gene Kelly dance for hours. To me, he did more than just dance. He glided...he floated...so smooth and graceful. Even when he walked, he danced. He was the epitome of charm, athleticism, and endless energy. I also enjoy watching his movies, with "Singing In the Rain" being my favorite. The added benefit of being easy on the eyes doesn't hurt either, even with having what appears to be a small scar on the lower part of his left cheek. Whenever he smiled, I felt that scar just added to his good looks. As much as I enjoy classic films, I feel at times that I was born in the wrong era. I'm just so thankful that the classic films of Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire have been restored and are archived to enjoy today.
