The first and the last

I recently had two uncles pass away within five days of each other. One of the last posts was about one of them. Since writing that post, another uncle passed away just this past Wednesday. They both enjoyed life to the grand ages of 91 and 99. My mom is 88 and is taking both her brother's deaths pretty hard. Throughout the years she has grieved over the loss of eight brothers and one sister. After one of the funerals this past week, a family member shared what he remembered another one of my uncles saying years ago. My uncle made the comment that he'd rather be the first one to go, than the last, and to have to see each sibling die and have to grieve over each one. It came to pass that he was the first.....and my mom will be the last.
