I remember when this photograph was taken. Me in my little fuzzy white hat. I can still feel its softness against my skin. I remember my mom lovingly tying the string under my chin. I also loved that coat. It was a beautiful turquoise and black plaid. I'm pretty sure that it would have been handed down to me by one of my many cousins. You can tell by my smile that I loved the snow!
When I was growing up, we had snow. Lots of it.....and I'm so glad that we did. I learned how to make snowmen, play fox and geese, build icy forts which I called igloos. I'd cut the icy snow in squares with the edge of my hand, and form this "igloo". I'd go sledding with my friend Kathy at Oak Hill Cemetery, and Susie and I would sled down her hill in her front yard. That hill seemed so big then. Now when I drive by her old house it doesn't seem nearly as big any more. I remember one year my toes were so frozen I thought for sure I had frost bite. Wonderful memories. Memories that have molded me.
I want snow. Simple as that. I love to photograph nature laden with snow. The weather is supposed to be nice out this week, into the lower 40's and sunny. Which is great weather.....for March. This is January and we've had no snow except for a trace.
I remember the past couple of years ago when we had some nice snow storms. I loved getting out and trampling in the snowy woods with my camera, garbed in my warm sky-blue down jacket, thermal boots, scarf, gloves, and hat. I feel that I got some nice shots of rural scenes and nature blanketed in snow and in shimmering ice. I especially like to photograph streams of water that are partially frozen and resemble frosted ice on a window pane. Sometimes I stumble upon some true treasures: such as finding miniature icicles dangling from underneath the branches into the icy water, and little waterfalls trickling down over the edges, looking much like little caverns in the water. Days so full of magic.

As much as I enjoy reading your blog, I really love seeing the "old" pictures of yourself!! My grandparent's home is in the background of your "snowbaby" picture!! : )
