"Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for every dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn't carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life."~~~Stephen King

Blustery day

It’s such a cloudy cold blustery day and it’s a good day to cuddle up with my sweet cat Holly Noel on my lap. But isn’t every day good to cuddle up with a soft and warm kitty? Our other cat, Oliver, is curled up all snug and warm in one of the cat beds on the bench in front of the picture window. Both kitties are truly a blessing to me.

The Christmas tree is lit and I kind of hate taking it down this week. Initially I didn’t care to have it put up this year but now I’m so glad we did. It’s been a sight to behold with all its white twinkling lights and north woods decorations we’ve collected over the last 10 years. I can just sit back in the recliner and pretend we’re in a cabin in northern Wisconsin. Maybe snowed in? Why not? We have plenty of firewood, hot chocolate with marshmallows—can’t forget them—and food to eat.

I’m enjoying listening to the George Winston Holiday Radio station on Pandora. It’s all instrumental and such beautiful relaxing Christmas music.

Tonight we’re going to order pizza in, have a warm blazing fire going and watch the 1945 movie ‘Bells of St. Mary’s’ starring Ingrid Bergman and Bing Crosby. We watched its 1944 prequel ‘Going My Way’ last night starring Crosby and Barry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald was wonderful in the film, as was all the other actors. I became a fan of Fitzgerald when I saw him in the 1956 movie ‘Catered Affair’ starring the great Bette Davis, Ernest Borgnine, Rod Taylor and Debbie Reynolds. I’ve enjoyed seeing Fitzgerald in several other movies ever since.
