"Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for every dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn't carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life."~~~Stephen King

Relax!

One of the definitions of ‘stress’ in Webster’s dictionary is: “a state of mental tension and worry caused by problems in your life, work, etc., something that causes strong feelings of worry or anxiety.”

I think stress should be a four-letter word, alongside obvious words like **** and ****. If only George Carlin were still alive—I’m sure he could do a skit on that subject.

How does one control stress without taking medications? I listen to soothing music, completely avoid caffeine, read Bible scripture, watch movies, try to think happy thoughts, cuddle with the kitties, not worry about what we’re going to do or what we can’t do, use imagery, breathe deeply, and massage my jaw, neck and shoulders. I’ve also been writing more. Even when I think I’m relaxed I’m really not. Mild exercise is out—for the time being—with my palpitations. So I’ll just keep slowly breathing.
