HOLLY’S CAT LETTER
EPISODE 12—03/05/2024
🐱 Hi to all my admirers. Wow what a night! It was raining so hard Ma thought it was hail so she plodded into the dining room and turned the outside light on. Nope, thankfully just heavy rain. The loud claps of thunder and flashes of lightning kept Ma awake. Oliver and I jumped several times but we stayed close to Ma. Of course Pa didn’t hear any of it and slept through the whole ordeal. Meow and hiss!!
🐱 Oliver earned several gold stars last night for doing a great job of patrolling. He’s starting to earn his keep. Last evening Ma and Pa were watching something on TV and Oliver jumped up on Ma’s side table and kept looking up! Lo and behold a bug was crawling up high on the wall! Of course Ma tried to take a picture but Pa wanted to get it in case it could fly. Oliver laid on the coffee table and continued to look for it. I have to admit—Oliver is a great hunter. He has scads of patience. During those first four months of his life in the wild he had to fend for himself. I’m impatient. I’ll see a bug fly around and try to find it, but soon get bored and walk away. I’m above lowering myself to the level of a mere bug. My strengths are being cute and cuddly, not being an avid hunter.
🐱 It will soon be my busiest season patrolling all my domain with lawn mowers trying to cross into my territory, strange humans walking their monstrous dogs and loud vehicles—which in Oliver’s opinion are the worst. I’ve been attempting to encourage Oliver to help me out around the house more—he just looks at me with those big green eyes. Guess I need to whack him on the head.
🐱 A couple days ago I was telling you all about how good I’ve been eating. Well, scratch that. I hardly touched supper last night and this morning I ate a couple tablespoons of my canned food. So Ma started administering my drug cocktail so she’s hoping it’ll whet my appetite and whatever else is brewing.
🐱 Hope you all enjoy your day. It’s a gray dreary one here but it’s a good day to be on Ma’s lap while she’s doing her devotions. More about me later…love, Holly
