Mom's homemade noodles

Homemade chicken and noodles.....with real mashed potatoes.  Now that's comfort food.

Mom in her apron on April 12, 1960 (I know that because it was taken on my 4th birthday!)

I wish I had my own photographs to share of these wonderful memories of my mom making noodles. I remember Mom standing in the kitchen in her apron with sweat running down her brow.....we had no air conditioning back then. She'd thinly roll out the dough with an old wooden rolling pin, adding more flour if needed.

Then she'd cut the dough into strips with a butter knife.....

.....and let them air dry.

After the noodles were dry.....

she'd drop them into the boiling chicken broth
Before you knew it, they'd be ready to eat.
Oh, how I savored them!
