"Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for every dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn't carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life."~~~Stephen King

Pet peeves...in some regard a couple could be considered aversions

I'm generally a happy camper, but you can call me a growler when it comes to pet peeves that really bug me!

Barking dogs...now don't get me wrong. I like dogs. I know that dogs can't help that God created them with a barking apparatus, but incessant barking is one of my top annoyances.

Shrill voices/loud people...unnerving to say the very least.

Sociopathic and compulsive liars...how can you trust or be friends with this type of person? Especially the type that can charm you and are actually using manipulation tactics. It makes you wonder if they really mean it when they say you look nice on any given day!

Dust jackets on hardback books...what are their purpose? Dust still gets on them. The jackets get torn up and look terrible. I love to have books sitting around in my home. I even try to get some of them read. I take the  dust jackets off sometimes, but then find the actual book is a hideous shade of green. The author could at least have had the book match the dust jacket for decorating purposes, if not for anything else.

Electric hand dryers...I really hate these. Especially the accelerated type. I will use them in the winter if I have to go outside right away so my hands won't get chapped. At the very least it is entertaining to watch the skin on your hands wrinkle and move during the drying process. Can you imagine what your face would look like drying underneath one of those? In warmer weather I tend to dry my hands on my clothes as I'm walking out the restroom door or just let them air dry.

Rude drivers...is it just me or are drivers becoming more rude and careless, having no common courtesy to anyone else on the road...and don't even get me started on texting while driving!

Discourteous people...this should be a given. Anyone that is discourteous is a loser in my book.

Malicious gossip...to me being concerned and asking about someone's welfare is not malicious gossip. It is not slanderous and hurting one's reputation.

Bad hygiene...there's just no excuse for this. How much does a toothbrush or a bar of soap cost?

Two-faced people...one of my top annoyances. I really hate it when people are only nice when it's convenient for them. Genuinely nice people go out of their way to help others.

Happy Holidays...big time pet peeve. I greet everyone with "Merry Christmas", even if it's not "politically correct" during these unsettled times. Jesus is the reason for the season.

Dribbling basketballs...the monotonous sound of a dribbling basketball in your street or neighbor's driveway is definitely a pet peeve of mine. I like to throw open the windows on a nice cool day to air out the house...then the dribbling begins. The echoing is what bugs me the most.
Smoke...I wouldn't mind it so much if it didn't make me physically ill.

Car speakers...you know what I'm talking about: the excessive BOOM BOOM BOOM and you even hear the vibrations!!!

Weight... Women who constantly talk about how fat their a**es and stomachs are when you've went up two to three jean sizes (depending on what name brand you're trying on). Thanks to my cortisone shots.
