"Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for every dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn't carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life."~~~Stephen King

God’s presence

🔅I’ve been in bed waiting for the pain pills for my migraine to start taking effect. This is my third one this past week. Brian quietly comes in and kisses my cheek. Tortie girl Holly is right there nudging the top edge of the blanket with her nose. It’s my cue to lift up its edge so she can crawl underneath to cuddle up close. My arm is cradled around her warm body and her little furry paw is on my shoulder. I lie there saying the only prayer I can utter—“Help me, Jesus”—and I hoarsely whisper thank you.

🔅Sometimes—many times with a chronic disease—you really have to look hard for God’s blessings. If there’s a reason at all to my decades of suffering, these illnesses have taught me to live for the smallest of moments and joys. There’s many days I never see them, especially when I sink low with the sluggishness of myalgic encephalitis and the challenge of late-stage Lyme Disease—and depression. I ask myself “why don’t I feel God’s presence?” If you take time and look real close—He is there in the midst of the pain, and His love shines in the little things.

🔅Romans 12:12~”Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
