HOLLY’S CAT LETTER
EPISODE 16–03/12/2024
🐱 Hi to all my admirers. Hope this finds you out enjoying this lovely spring day—although the almanac indicates it’s not officially spring until the 19th. I recall hearing Ma reminisce about a horrific ice storm that struck several years ago on her birthday in the middle of April. So I’m sorry to break the bad news, but we could very well still have dreadful snow and ice.
🐱 Today has been vile—terribly vile. I have been sleeping more than my normal so needless to say, vile beasts could surely be taking over my domain. For all I know there could be water buffalo out there grazing. I’m just too tired to give a hoot.
🐱 During the night I should have hightailed it off the bed and slept somewhere else. Ma rolled all around, kicking and throwing covers everywhere. The bed looks like a war zone. Every night Ma places this flat pillow inbetween her knees since she always has back and hip pain, so in the middle of the night said pillow violently flew across the bed. It barely missed my head. Then later she woke up trying to find the pillow by groping all over the bed in the dark. She finally gave up and went back to sleep. In all of my two lives, I have never had such a ghastly night. At the crack of dawn Ma woke up again and tried to atone for all this vileness by giving me extra belly rubs and kisses—it did help ease my irritability.
🐱 And finally, my brother Oliver has plucked my very last nerve. I was basking comfortably in a sunbeam and was mercilessly awakened to a thud coming from the kitchen. I groggily sauntered in there to make sure no vile beasts had invaded my domain. Well, Oliver had the gall to knock Pa’s clementine to the floor and was batting it all around. What a complete waste of energy as he should have been patrolling. What a slacker.
🐱 I need to take a break from sleeping and stroll into the spare bedroom to see if Pa is folding the laundry properly. Enjoy the rest of your day! More about me later…love, Holly
