HOLLY’S CAT LETTER
EPISODE 17–03/13/2024
🐱 Hi to all my admirers. Here it is in the middle of the night and I had the irresistible urge to write. So silly of me. I should be doing my round of night patrol, but oh well. Actually Oliver should be and he’s off slacking somewhere.
🐱 Yesterday afternoon Pa worked a bit in the yard. I sat by the French doors and kept watch to make sure no vile beasts tried to attack him. Then a bit later Ma joined him and she and Pa sat on the patio watching the vile birds and enjoying the fine weather.
🐱 I’m dreading nice weather. Ma will be spending a lot of time outside which means I’ll be ignored. It brings back horrific nightmares of when I was a kitten in that dark prison cell, and my two siblings were adopted and I was left behind. So Ma being outside more makes me feel like I’ve been abandoned again. It has given me PTSD. But she always remembers me and comes back inside once in awhile to give me lots of cuddles and kisses.
🐱 When Ma went to bed at 11 p.m. she had trouble going to sleep again. She has a lot of those nights. I snuggled up close to her and gave her some purr therapy, but to no avail. She didn’t flop around quite as bad as the other night, but it was still bad. At 2:30 a.m. Ma heard me beside her making these smacking noises and then I took off out of bed like greased lightning. Ma, like always, was concerned. So she got up, turned on some lights and tried to find me to make sure I was ok. She searched high and low but I was nowhere to be found. Cats have this innate ability to disappear when we want to. Then we suddenly reappear and saunter into a room like nothing had happened.
🐱 By the time Ma laid back down it was 3:00 a.m. and she tried to go to sleep and then felt something cold and wet on the sheets. I heard her exclaim “ewww” and she turned the bedside table lamp on. Lo and behold she found a big hairball. Aha! She brilliantly surmised that was why I was making those weird noises. She got up to clean the sheets off and wash her hands all the while saying “good girl, Holly”. She still didn’t see me but I was close by, brightly beaming from being so proud that I made Ma happy. My tummy has been a bit upset so maybe since I got that vile hairball up, it’ll feel better and I’ll start eating more.
🐱 Well it’s 3:30 a.m. so I’m going to lay back down with Ma. Maybe she’ll finally be able to fall asleep. I think she needs to eat something substantial like a stack of waffles and bacon. All this trying to eat healthy is for the vile birds. More about me later…love, Holly

Hope you feel better, Holly. I also hope Ma has a wonderful day (even sneaking in a good nap with a Holly snuggled on her lap ) 😊~~Heather Juricka
